Content of the course:
Basic principles of modelling digital systems: Boolean algebras and functions, combinatorial and sequential circuits, derivation of a model computer and illustration of its functionality, introduction to the development of embedded systems (sensors, actuators, electrical peripherals, programming concepts),fields of application

Learning outcomes / Competencies
The successful participation enables students to
- describe and design the components of a computer based on combinatorial circuits
- design subcomponents self-dependently
- master the integration of elements and processes of program execution in different model computers and assess the (dis-)advantages of different configurations
- understand the realization of embedded systems within their respective applications from the circuit diagrams and derive the software-based implementation
- design and realize simple, embedded systems
