The following course was developed at the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies.
The course pays special attention to the features of work in the lab. The lab is a unique place where you need to feel calm, confident and comfortable. You will see all the ins and outs of lab work, unusual and unforeseen situations, ideal and non-ideal calibration curves, spoiled reagents/solutions. We will go a long and thorny way from the names of lab glassware, basic lab techniques and “ancient” titration to precise elemental analysis using highly sensitive equipment.
Learning outcomes / Competencies
Basic laboratory techniques (pipetting, solution preparation, solution dilution); calibration and spectrophotometric analysis; wastewater treatment, research design and plan; water, soil and plant sampling; sample preparation, sequential extraction, microwave digestion, elemental analysis: ICP-MS & ICP-OES.
