Copyright 2025 TUBAFdigital

The purpose of obtaining knowledge and a thorough understanding of the mechanical properties and structural strength of materials.
The task is to reveal the relationship between the structure and mechanical properties of materials. To study macro- and microfractographic methods of researching the brittle destruction of materials. Master the methods of determining the main strength and plastic characteristics in tension, compression, torsion, bending, as well as hardness according to the methods of Brinell, Vickers, Rockwell, etc. Get in-depth knowledge of heat resistance, fatigue, wear resistance.

Learning outcomes / Competencies:

Mechanical Properties Mastery: Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the principal mechanical properties of materials, encompassing aspects such as strength, yield strength, relative elongation, and contraction.

Deformation-Load Connection: Establish a clear grasp of the intricate connection between mechanical load and deformation in materials, enabling accurate analysis of material behavior under varying stress conditions.

Elasticity and Plasticity Concepts: Discern the physical essence of elasticity and plasticity, differentiating between these fundamental material responses to stress and comprehending their implications in real-world applications.

Impact Toughness Evaluation: Evaluate and interpret impact toughness characteristics of materials, gaining the ability to assess how materials withstand sudden loads or impacts and predicting their potential performance in dynamic scenarios.

Alloy Influence on Mechanical Properties: Explore the profound impact of alloying elements on mechanical properties, including strength, yield strength, relative elongation, contraction, work of destruction, and hardness, enabling informed material selection and manipulation for specific purposes.
